Stream Cycles (2024)

Generative projections and field recorded audio

Stream Cycles is a generative, site-specific projection installation created using video and audio field recordings gathered from Stony Brook State Park near Alfred, NY and processed in Max MSP.

A field recording-based soundscape, recorded through use of specialized microphones like hydrophones is paired with corresponding footage from onsite locations, and triggered generatively based on the overall, collective volume of the piece. A webcam feed of the projections is also live-streamed in the background. The installation is ever-changing, influenced by the surrounding environment in the room. As the audiovisual sequences ebb and flow, the piece cascades like a waterfall.

This installation was created at the Institute for Electronic Arts (IEA) at Alfred University as part of their Experimental Research Residency in New Media, in collaboration with Tyson Houseman.

Stream Cycles was exhibited at The Engine Room 2025: International Sound Art Competition at Morley Gallery from April 28 - May 16, 2025.
